A Sustainable Step Forward: New Glass Bottling Line

“Baldaran Spring” JSC continues its consistent policy of sustainable development by implementing a new production line for bottling spring water in glass bottles.

The investment is aimed at transitioning to a circular production model, where materials with a high degree of recyclability are used and resources are optimized throughout the entire production process.

With the introduction of the new line, the company replaces PET and HDPE in its premium Diamond Line series with glass bottles and aluminum caps.

This results in a significant reduction in the carbon footprint of the final product, while using materials that can be recycled multiple times without loss of quality.

As a result of the implemented technology, the carbon footprint per unit product has been reduced by approximately 90.3% compared to the previous production process.

One of the key changes in the production process is the replacement of the energy-intensive PET bottle blowing stage with a glass bottle depalletizing process. As a result, electricity consumption for this stage has been reduced by over 90%, while the total energy consumption per unit of production has been optimized by approximately 31%.

These improvements contribute both to cost reduction and to limiting greenhouse gas emissions.

In addition, the new line ensures significantly higher precision and automation of the production process. As a result, technological defects have been reduced from approximately 1.05% to below 0.01%, and raw material losses have been minimized. Accordingly, this leads to more efficient resource use and a lower environmental impact.

By introducing glass bottles, “Baldaran Spring” JSC takes another step toward sustainable production based on the principles of the circular economy—namely, the use of 100% recyclable materials in primary packaging, reduction of single-use plastic, and optimization of production processes and resources.

The investment is part of the company’s long-term strategy to reduce its carbon footprint and implement energy-efficient technologies.
